Whats the worst time you've been through financially and what?

It's a long story, but I was financially devastated and it took 6 years to recover. I was a single Dad in northern Minnesota small town, but my 2 children never really knew we were poor. Actually, all three of us had many good times. They're grown now but still talk about our fun we used to have with just the simplest of entertainments. We ate a heck of a lot of venison during that time. I had to hunt deer to get us through quite often. I never let on to most people what we were going through, and I'm glad I didn't. Although we rented a very small and inefficient home with wood heat. I'm sure most people suspected all was not right. I always worked, but money management and time was my only resource. As the children got a little older, then I could take a second job a few evenings during the week. The experience built character - especially in me - and I can see it reflected in the two fine young adults my children turned out to be. We are all Conservatives/Republican as well. I think that's where you find integrity, in a population anyway. Not necessarily in Washington.
