Have you ever had the contraceptive injection?

I cannot take the pill because i suffer from migraines and the doc has just given me a script for the contraceptive injections, 3 monthly. im just wondering about other peoples experiences of this injection because ive heard some pretty gory stories about it and want to know if i should be worried, thanks!
