How do I keep the light on continuously in my garage?

I have a Genie Pro Screw Drive garage door opener. The switch that is installed only allows me to open or close the garage door, leaving me with only the 4.5 minute default time limit before the lights turn off. In order to switch the lights on independent of door operation, do I need to install a new switch, or is there possibly a on on the power head which turns the lights on/a way to jimmy-rig my own light switch?
